| | So I passed EE140, which is the class that I worried about days and nights for the past two months (Praise God). It really feels great when I no longer have to worry about deficient grades that could potentially lead to my grad school admissions being revoked. That being said, my undergrad career is officially over. I am finally back home after I went on a cruise right after my commencement (I will elaborate on that later). For some reasons, I am feeling a little bit lost and empty. I think part of the reason is because I realized that I will not go back to Berkeley after the summer. In the previous years, I was always looking forward to the beginning of the school year when I got to see and hang out with my friends again; it ain't gonna happen after this summer. To be honest, I really missed being a college student. In college, the environment is always so energetic; people play hard, study hard, and do crazy stuffs. Everthing is so intense and challenging, yet it is also enga ging and fun. People always told me that college life is the best part of their lives and I think I understand what they mean completely. ----------
I was on a cruise to Mexico a day after my commencement on 5/24 and I got back on 6/1. It was my first time cruising and I really enjoyed this experience. The ship stopped at 3 different Mexican cities and I participated in several on-shore activities such as mountain biking, city tour, hiking... etc. However, I don't find these activities memorable, as I just don't think Mexico is an interesting country (no offense). I had my best time on the cruise ship "Carnival Pride," which has 12 floors/decks and is 3 times as long as a football field. Man this ship is truly a beast in the sea. I have a great time on the ship. First, I got 2nd place (and won a medal) in a free throw contest hosted on the 12th (highest, outdoor) deck on the ship. Second, I played in the casino, which is located on the 2nd deck, for the first time. At the end I gained a net of $10.00 from Blackjack! It was actually kinda funny, because I was losing badly and then I decided to go all in. On the next game I got a Blackjack and it more than double my bets, which put me $10.00 over the amount I had initially. Immediately, I told the card dealer I WANT TO CASH OUT! CASH OUT!!! The dealer was just sighing and shaking her head, reluctantly taking the chips in my hand and giving me back my cash!!! There are sooo many activities to do on the ship: shows, shops, raffles, whale sighting, mini golf, disco dancing class, towel folding class... However, none of them beats this: eating. The cruise foods are the best foods I've ever tasted, and they are available pretty much 24/7. I told myself that I paid nearly $900 to go to this cruise, I might as well take advantage of whatever available to me. As a result, I ate so much that the amount of food I consumed during the cruise is probably greater than the amount I had during the final 3 weeks of the school. Everyday, I had 3 full meals plus 1 mini meal. Oh ya my definition of full meal is appetizers+main course+desserts, it's not defined as a cup noodle for typical college students. Therefore, I was not surprised that I gained 8-9lbs after the cruise despite that I tried to work out at least an hour per day in the gym during the cruise. This concluded my first week after graduation. I am going to Taiwan in 3 weeks. More foods await!!!! |
